For more than 15 years Donna Carey has been using sound in her clinical practice with extraordinary results. It was her combined understanding of the deep, lasting, and powerful impact that sound and vibration play in healing that led to the development of the AcutonicsŪ Tuning Forks and the integration of other sound healing tools such as Tibetan Bowls, didgeridoos, sound plates and Planetary gongs. From her experience and the many case studies we've seen from our practitioners, it is clear that this integrated healing system is having profound and lasting results on the people who have been treated.
We've seen stroke victims regain mobility and paraplegics begin
to feel pain, where there has been no sensation for many years.
A Bell's Palsy client experienced her face realigning as twitching
ceased, and long-time insomniacs have found it possible to sleep.
Chronic and debilitating sinusitis has been eliminated with Ohm
Fork treatments, and more importantly clients can be taught self-care
and application. Asthma has also been treated with great affect,
allowing people to get off steroids and inhalers. More recently,
we have seen life long, chronic and debilitating intergenerational
family patterns begin to break down with a treatment program that
integrates use of the AcutonicsŪ Planetary and Chiron Forks.
The following stories and cases are just the beginning of what we will offer in the future. We invite your feedback, research or case histories for inclusion in future materials. Please e-mail us at info@acutonics.com to receive the format for submission.
NOTE: AcutonicsŪ and Harmonic Medicine are powerful forms of
healing. If you are suffering from a serious health problem we suggest
that you work in collaboration with the appropriate members of your
health care team.

Lower Back Pain
Submitted by: Robert Tang, LMT, Certified Acutonics® Practitioner & Teacher
Robert Tang, LMT is a licensed muscular therapist specializing in Acutonics®, specific deep muscular therapy and reflexology. He has been in private practice for more than 11 years with emphasize in treating chronic pain, sports and auto injuries, migraine headaches, emotional stress, circulatory problems and structural imbalance. Robert has achieved certification as an Acutonics® instructor from Kairos Institute of Sound Healing. He completed the Massage Therapy Certification Program at the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy and Myofascial Release Certification with Robert King, the director of Chicago School of Massage Therapy. He also received Reflexology Certification at Natural Rehabilitation Center in Taiwan. He was also trained in other modalities such as craniosacral therapy, lymph drainage therapy, neuromuscular therapy, and Reiki. He successfully integrates the Acutonics® System with other hands-on modalities into his clinical work.
Narrative History:
Mr. R complained of severe muscular pain in his lower back and quads that had been ongoing for three weeks. He was limping and could not straighten his back when walking. He was immobilized two days prior to his visit to my office. He has a history of back pain twice before in 1982 and 1988 due to overuse and sports related injury. In the past he consulted a medical doctor and was diagnosed with L4 and L5 muscular misalignment. He has high stress and sits a great deal in front of the computer at work. He is intolerant of heat and his blood pressure is 140/90. He is in remission with Grave’s Disease and hyperthyroidism, which were active years ago. However, he reports that his throat feels stuck all the time.
Mr. R appeared very protective emotionally. Palpation found shoulder and chest muscles constricted. High elevated para-spinal and lumbar-sacral musculature on the entire left side. Further assessment found that Mr. R has very poor posture as work. For the past ten years, as a result of compensating for the position of his computer monitor he has constantly turned his back to the right throughout his workday.

Case Study: Adult ADHD
Narrative History:
Ms A. a 40 year-old woman presented with chief complaints of stress and ADHD symptoms. The stress started about a year earlier and coincided with caring for her ailing parent, for whom she was primary caregiver, though she said she was the parent’s least favorite offspring. She also had a great deal of family stress with her siblings. She also complains of lack of focus and short attention span. She has frequent body aches, headaches, and dizziness lasting as long as 5 hours at a time and sometimes resulting in nausea and vomiting. All of these symptoms are aggravated by stress and somewhat relieved by meditation. She reports having both hot and cold flashes. Her appetite is low. She tends to eat only one meal each day and then eats some kind of salty junk food. She has acid reflux for which she takes Prilosec and loose stools since the removal of her gallbladder 15 years earlier. She has a dry mouth that she relieves frequently by sucking on ice. She has trouble falling asleep and only sleeps about 4 hours since caring for her parent but reports that she still has a moderate energy level. She has a past history of panic attacks, but none in past 15 years. Menstrual cycles have been irregular for the 4 months prior to treatment when she stopped taking birth control pills because she had started smoking. She has a tendency to PMS 1-2 weeks prior to her period, which includes tension and irritability, water weight gain, breast tenderness and headache. She describes her stress level as being 9 out of 10. She’s frustrated and anxious, but considers herself to be resilient. She has a lot of difficulty relaxing.
Pulse ranged from 56–88 BPM. It is slippery and wiry and full on the left side.

Narrative History:
Mr. C. a 40- year old presented with chief complaint of lack of confidence in relationships and fear issues. He traces this back to childhood to an incident of physical abuse by his father as punishment for fighting with his sister. He describes himself as “passive” since that time. He is fearful of men, many of whom he sees as a physical threat. He says he puts up walls, when a woman seems to be interested in him and gravitates toward women who he feels need to be rescued or are otherwise dependent, but then resents them for their neediness. He feels a lack of confidence to become involved with independent women.
He says that many people have told him his hearing is poor, but he thinks he doesn’t always listen well. Emotionally he describes himself as passive, fearful, judgmental, but generally happy/joyful with short periods of “feeling down”.
He does daily spiritual practice consisting of meditation, affirmations and Chakra cleansing. He says he feels frequent disharmony in his 3rd Chakra.
He also reports that his energy, sexual drive and sleep are all good. He says he is capable of handling a lot of stress.

One
of our favorite stories recently came from 11 year-old Carly who on
a deep intuitive level understands the power of AcutonicsŪ. Carly
recently shared this observation with her Mom, Michele and Aunt Kat,
who are both Acutonics Practitioners.
"Mom I get it about how when you say something bad about someone,
even if the person doesn't hear you, they feel it." "What made you
get it?" Michele asked, her daughter. " AcutonicsŪ mom, that's what
made me get it." Michele replied. "You know it's not about us Carly
it's about the world." " Yeah, that's why auntie Kat got into it,
and that's why we are into it."
11 Year old Carly is an aspiring AcutonicsŪ practitioner and big
animal vet of horses.

Women
in Transition: Menopause and Perimenopause
Presented by Donna Carey, MS. L.Ac.
Donna Carey is a licensed Acupuncturist, co founder of the Kairos
Institute of Sound Healing, Llc., and co-creator of the AcutonicsŪ Healing System. She combines her broad knowledge base as healer, educator,
poet, theologist, and innovator in treating individuals and communities.

Menopause and perimenopause are one of the most significant and powerful
transitions in a women's life. For more than fifteen years I have
been working with women experiencing this deep and challenging transition.
This time, which is marked by physiological, psychological, spiritual,
and astrological shifts, often requires a blending of treatment strategies
and paradigms. It is a time when women access a new and often times
confusing sense of power. AcutonicsŪ is an invaluable system for dealing
with the issues and subtle textures that mainstream medicines and
treatment often cannot address.
Women in transition will present with a constellation of symptoms
that are ignored or labeled as hormonal and /or psychological imbalances.
Western medicine and some alternative therapies will deliver multiple
diagnoses including Sjoegren's syndrome, hypothymia, non-specific
autoimmune disorders, fibromyalgia, depression, hyperthyroidism, and
hypothyroidism, chronic fatigue, etc. etc. etc. These diagnoses alone
are often not the answer and in many cases they are inaccurate. As
healers and clinicians we must also consider that during this time
of transition women are being initiated into their power, self-autonomy,
and destiny, which can be one of the most profound, life altering,
confusing, and shattering experiences in life. Unfortunately many
of us live in a world, in cultures, and within family structures that
do not support these transitions because they fear the outcome-mainly
change. These are often irreversible and unresistable changes that
comes when we are given a gift of insight into our life that helps
break down generational patterns and to wake up or re-awaken to a
new purpose. Women begin to access their divine spark, and often experience
a heightened awareness, as they are called to move beyond their existing
structure, and to redesign or craft a brand new architecture for their
lives.
So all these symptoms and syndromes that seem so overwhelming and
unbearable are not all that complex, strange, or pathological. Remember
that in other cultures this is a very celebrated and sacred time.
Our culture minimizes transitions, and disempowers these powerful
times, especially the powerful times of women.
It is my personal belief that mainstream medicine has almost nothing
to offer high functioning women in transition. The power is within
us waiting to be ignited, not suppressed by countless hormonal supplements
and anti-psychotic drugs for mood swings, anxiety, and insomnia. The
answer is insight into the larger picture of your life-your story-and
a living out of the exciting, empowering, universe that is not determined
by husbands, children, institutions, governments, nor held captive
by gender, cultures, and biology.
Transitions are about enlarging into our greatest capacities, the
apex of our waveform, launching into our highest frequency with renewed
energy and wisdom. And the menopausal years are part of this critical
transition.
Rather than providing many individual case studies to this grand portal
I offer some general treatment strategies that have been extremely
effective in my clinical practice.
Symptoms:
Almost always there will be a constellation of patterns and symptoms
orbiting around the factor of heat. From an Oriental Medicine perspective
the diagnosis is Kidney yin deficiency. Yin is the female aspect,
the material base, the nurturing substances and processes. Yang is
the masculine principle, the energy, and the action. Yin and yang
are complementary forces that exist within our body, within nature,
and throughout the universe, that interplay, complement and check
one another. When in balance, there is harmony. When yin is deficient,
yang will take over and we will see how when the yin (water) is deficient
and cannot provide the root, that yang (fire) will exhibit itself
with a flare.
These include hot flashes, heat rising up in the form of headaches,
restlessness, fidgetiness, sleeplessness, and irritability. The heat
can give way to dryness, both vaginal and general dryness of mouth,
eyes, skin, and a feeling of itchy crawly skin. Joint aches can occur
due to the loss of moisture and lubrication as well. There may be
feelings of un-grounded-ness and un-rooted-ness due to the fact that
energy is constantly rising up. The heat can cause unsettling and
feelings of anger, aggression, nervousness, it may also cause either
excessive menstrual bleeding (heat will burn collaterals), or incessant
spotting (yin source dried up so blood cannot be produced). Emotionally
there is a wide gamut from elation with constant activity and restlessness,
to depression and very little activity, although insomnia may be present
with hypo or hyper emotions.
Psychospiritual symptoms may include a blown out low back or sacrum,
which is common in transformational crisis-the stability of our old
life and ways of thinking and being are challenged. Our creative urge
for spritual and soul growth is awakening at the base of the spine
and kundalini energy is being stirred up at its core. Other symptoms
may include feelings that their world and the people around them are
becoming too small and there are often feelings of loss and impending
change. The nervous system often times becomes extremely sensitive
and fragile, everything becomes a crisis and there can be a loss of
control. Things we once took in stride become overwhelming; when you
couple this with inability to sleep and surging power we can easily
fry our systems circuitry.
Treatment Strategy:
It's critical to ground, root, and settle the nervous system, which
helps to bring the body back into its new rhythms and cycles. The
Acutonics system is based on cycles, the best place to begin a treatment
is with the fundamental and foundational cycle of Ohm. In the treatment
described below I generally repeat each sequence three times.
Begin your treatment by having the client listen to the AcutonicsŪ Low Ohm Fork and the basic Ohm Fork together (Ohm Octave), then place
the two forks together on the soles of the feet at Gushing Spring
(Kid-1).
Next use both Ohm Forks together (Ohm Unison), go down the entire
spine first along and right next to the spine (the Huatojiaji points)
then out from the spine on the first muscle band. This helps to settle
the nervous system down and aids the client in integrating the new
energies, frequencies and insights that are coming into the body.
After going down the spine be sure to work in the sacrum, then use
the minor chakras at the back of the knees and end at the bottom of
the foot at Kid-1 again.
Next I use the Ohm Forks above the body, sweeping energy from the
top to the bottom of the body guiding it downwards towards the root.
I also use the combination of the Ohm and Full Moon Fork on the inside
of the lower leg at a point known as the 3 Leg Yin (Spleen-6). This
is a powerful Psychospiritual point and using this combination can
water the yin of the body and help harmonize the emotions.
Once the client has turned over, root again using the Low Ohm and
Ohm together at the point known as Origins Pass (Conception Vessel-4).
This point is located approximately a hands length below the navel
on the midline and is a great point for rooting the core energy. Continue
to balance all the chakras using the Low Ohm and Ohm combination or
two Ohms both on and off the body.
If you have completed AcutonicsŪ Level I training you should be familiar
with the pre-meridian energy channels known as the 8 Extraordinary
Vessels. One of the most effective treatments for leveling, grounding,
nourishing, and helping realign energies in the physical and subtle
energy bodies is using the Ohm and Full Moon (full moon 6th) on the
confluent points for the Ren Mai (Lung-7) and YinQiao Mai (Kid-6)
contra laterally, and on the confluent points for the Chong Mai (Spleen-4)
and Yin Wei Mai (P-6) contra laterally.
End your treatment by tracing the figure 8 above the body using the
Ohm Forks and then hold these near your clients' ears.

Depression
and Anxiety
Presented by Marjorie de Muynck, BS, LMP
Marjorie is a licensed body practitioner, co-founder of the Kairos
Institute of Sound Healing, Llc., and co-creator of the AcutonicsŪ Healing System. Marjorie has been a bodyworker, educator, musician
and composer for more than 20 years. To read more about Marjorie click here.
Depression presents itself in many ways and is often the end result
of long periods of stress and anxiety. Client descriptions will vary
but often include reduced energy; lack of interest in daily activities,
giving up, a sense of loss, helplessness or disempowerment. Traumatic
events, like the recent terrorist attacks, bombings or threat of biological
warfare can result in large groups of people experiencing loss, helplessness,
or feelings of disempowerment. In these cases people may ignore the
signs of depression thinking that their feelings are not justified
because the events that occurred did not directly affect them. Often
people will not take their feelings seriously until it becomes debilitating.
When we shut down these thoughts of helplessness or loss, depression
is likely to be the end result.
Sometimes when a traumatic event from a person's past has not been
resolved it creates a block in energy that can result in depression.
There is also a phenomenon known as SAD or Seasonal Affect Disorder
that can occur when people experience prolonged periods without sunlight.
This particularly affects people who live in the Northwest.
There is also a tendency for secondary symptoms to occur with depression
such as soreness in the muscles and skeleton or insomnia. Often times
the client finds that they cannot shut off their thinking and therefore
they become overwrought with doubts and worry.
Western medicine usually treats the depression and/or anxiety with
antidepressants. This line of treatment can provide temporary relief
but over time it may lose its potency or have debilitating side effects.
Antidepressants are merely treating symptoms. In my experience, depression
requires the practitioner to help the client get to the root of the
depression by empowering them in their healing process.
Symptoms and Treatment Strategy:
With depression there are generally signs of weakness in both the
emotional and physical body. There is deficiency in both Yin and Yang
resulting in the whole system being out of balance. The sense of helplessness
that occurs requires the practitioner to go to the root of chi or
energy in the body.
To treat depression with AcutonicsŪ I recommend a building and empowering
treatment which often times can shift the client from fear and feeling
overwhelmed to a sense of being in balance. Build gradually using
the treatment prescribed below. Assess where your client is and how
much sound they are able to integrate. If someone is acutely out of
balance build them back slowly over several treatments. Start the
treatment by having the client listen to the Ohm Forks then apply
the forks to the body using this progression: Earth Day 5th, (Ohm
and green Earth Fork); Full Moon 6th (Ohm and White Moon Fork) and
after several treatments add the Solar 7th (Low Ohm and Sun Fork)
to the treatment. Repeat the sequence three times on each point hold
for 30 seconds to several minutes depending on the client.
Apply the above sequence to the following points in this order: Great
Ravine Point (Kidney 3 source point) Gate to the Original Qi point
(Ren 4) The Sea of Qi (Ren 6).
To balance the entire system use the Ohm Unison (two gold Forks) on
the Huato Jiagi points which are between the vertebrae just alongside
the spine. Start at the top of the spine just below the neck and continue
down through the lower back, including the sacrum.
Also use the Ohm Unison (2 gold forks) place one on the center of
the palm of the hand and the other on Ren 17, located on the midline
of the sternum, to balance, calm and relax the client.
If you are familiar with the 8 Extraordinary Channels it is advantageous
to treat The Ren Yin Qiao Channel (Lu 7 & Ki 6) and the Yin Wei and
Chong Channels (P6 and Sp 4) with the same intervals recommended above,
Earth Day 5th, Full Moon 6th, Solar 7th in this sequence.
You can also treat the client above the body with Acutonics. If there
is fear in the heart and solar plexus chakras you can use the Solar
7th and the Full Moon 6th above these chakras. Make a clock-wise circular
motion, with the forks and sweep excess fear down and out the body
through the legs.
To further calm and relax the client conclude the treatment by having
them listen to the Zodiac 3rd, (Ohm and Purple Earth Fork).

Bell's
Palsy
Michele Sprauer-Keicher is an Acutonics Practitioner, Bodyworker
and Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner. She has been a licensed Massage
Therapist for 13 years and has worked with and studied Jin Shin Jyutsu
(J.S.J.) for over twenty years. This Japanese Healing art uses the
hands as jumper cables on the body to move and unblock energy. She
has completed Reiki level two training, and leads women's retreats.
She lives in Sherwood, Oregon.
Michele shared this recent experience with us:
I just had my most powerful experience to date. I worked on a woman
that has Bell's Palsy on the left side of her face. Initially I worked
on her Chakras with the AcutonicsŪ Ohm Forks and then I did some free
style work on her face with the New Moon and the Ohm Fork (New Moon
5th). After working on her face I moved to her feet to ground the
work that I was doing. While working at her feet I noticed her face
stopped twitching. My client had told me that her face always twitches.
I mentioned to her that her face had stopped twitching. Although my
client thought it had stopped, she told me that she didn't want to
say anything because she thought she was fooling herself. I confirmed
that it had in fact stopped. I also observed her left cheekbone aligning
with the right. She described it this way, "the tug of war in my face
is gone". After awhile she began to feel the energy flowing through
her whole body, her channels opened. A true miracle happened in my
treatment space and I received as much as I facilitated.
When I did my first follow up treatment with my client, she said after
the first treatment she was 90% better for about 3 days, then the
stress caught up with her. Although it came back some, she indicated
that she was still 45% better.
In my second AcutonicsŪ treatment I worked on her inner ankles and
she got immediate relief on the left side of her face and she explained
it as feeling it really deep inside almost like it is in the bone.
Her face straightened out right away and her eye that had been stuck
open could move. I thought of the J.S.J. eye flow and worked on the
right side opposite of her project side. Almost instantly her eye
shape changed and she could shut her eye with ease. In addition, my
client's speech has been slurred as a result of the Palsy, but after
today's treatment she had no slurred speech.
Isn't life grand!

Intervertebral Disc Herniation
Dr. Fred Chard, D.C. submitted the following cases. Fred a practicing
chiropractor in Kirkland, WA is a graduate of Western States Chiropractic
College in Portland, OR. He practiced in the State of Hawaii for 10
years and attended the Amerasian Institute of Acupuncture in Honolulu.
Fred has worked with a variety of needle-less techniques including
electricity, magnetics, laser, ultrasound and AcutonicsŪ. He has been
engaged in ongoing Acutonics clinical research in his chiropractic
practice, and in the veterinary practice of Dr. Michael Lemmon, DVM,
of Renton, WA. Dr. Lemmon is the founding president of the American
Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and is known throughout the
Pacific Northwest for his use of Acupuncture, herbalism, and homeopathy
in small animal veterinary medicine.
The two most amazing cases I have treated with Acutonics are the following
disc herniations that resolved without surgery.
Mrs. L. was in acute distress and could barely tolerate lying on my
treatment table. The only therapy at my disposal was AcutonicsŪ.
Mrs. L is a 54-year-old female in acute distress due to a congenital
L5 lumbar disc herniation. Also, several of her immediate family members
had congenital L5-S1 intervertebral disc herniations. On a pain scale
of 1-10 (10 being the absolute pain), Mrs. L. was between 8-9. Due
to excruciating pain, it was impossible for me to treat Mrs. L with
chiropractic, or any therapy directly applied to her lumbar or sacral
spine. The Acutonics treatment for Mrs. L consisted of treating K3
(kidney source point-located behind the ankle bone on the inside of
the foot) bilaterally with the vibrating shafts of the Ohm Fork and
the Full Moon Fork held about 1/3 inch apart firmly contacting K3.
She was treated for approximately 15 to 20 minutes per side every
4 days.
After 2 treatments, Mrs. L experienced such a significant reduction
in symptoms that her amazed surgeon postponed the surgery. Following,
one additional treatment, Mrs. L became asymptomatic. The surgery
was called off altogether, and she has been doing well for more than
two years. Mrs. L. is currently attending massage therapy school and
plans to open an active practice upon graduation.
Mrs. W. was in a very severe car accident about 8 years before she
came to see me. She had been unconscious as a direct result of the
accident and required hospitalization. She sustained severe lateral
whiplash to her upper spine and neck. For a number of years following
the accident, Mrs. W. experienced constant tension adjacent to her
right scapula. She consulted with a number of doctors who were unable
to give her any explanation of this tension. Finally, a very extensive
evaluation with x-ray and MRI diagnostic imaging revealed that she
had sustained C7-T1 intervertebral disc herniations on the right side
of her spine. I had been treating Mrs. W only with chiropractic on
a frequent basis getting good temporary results. Following a chiropractic
treatment, she would experience almost complete remission of the tension
for up to 3 days at a time. However the same symptoms would keep coming
back. Because of the success with Mrs. L, I decided to try the identical
treatment with Mrs. W.
There were 2 major differences between these 2 cases. Mrs. W. could
only come in for treatment weekly, and she received a combination
of chiropractic and Acutonics. After 3 treatments there had been no
further improvement with Mrs. W's symptoms. I changed my treatment
plan and began using 2 Sun Forks, from the AcutonicsŪ Solar 7th Set,
instead of using the Ohm and White Full Moon Fork, which had been
so successful with Mrs. L. I also started to directly treat the herniations
site on the right side of the C7 intervertebral disc, in addition
to the K3 points. Because of the more intense vibration produced by
the Sun Forks, I reduced the treatment time to only 10 minutes for
reach location. After 4 additional treatments with this new protocol,
some very favorable results started to appear. Mrs. W was now getting
complete symptom relief, first for 5 days at a time, and then for
one week at a time. After 3 months of treatment, she became totally
symptom free, and has remained so for almost 2 years.

Musculo Skeletal Conditions:
Acutonics is a very useful therapy for tight muscles, something I
see every day in my clinical practice. My observation is that a muscle
cannot continue to remain tight in the presence of the tuning fork
vibration. There are 2 distinct approaches to treating tight muscles
with Acutonics.
One approach is to directly apply tuning fork vibration onto the belly
of the muscle. Direct application is especially useful when the tight
muscle can be identified by palpation, and can be separated from the
surrounding tissue and adjacent muscles. In this situation, a vibrating
AcutonicsŪ Sun Fork can be placed in the center of the tightest area,
or a more effective method can be to pinch the tight muscle by sandwiching
the shafts of two vibrating Sun Forks. With either method, continue
the contact for thirty seconds to five minutes. Push firmly into the
muscle tightness but be sensitive to your client's sensitivity to
pressure.
Another approach is to treat the acupuncture meridian that overlies
the tight muscle. Remember that a meridian affects an area up to 1.5
inches to either side of the meridian. For example, I often treat
low back muscle tightness utilizing the urinary bladder meridian.
The best treatment method is to use the AcutonicsŪ Sun Fork and the
AcutonicsŪ Full Moon Fork. These two forks used together create a
polarity effect, very similar to positive and negative electrical
or magnetic poles. Acupuncturists speak of the favorable treatment
value when blood and chi are moved. The combined effect of the Sun
and Moon Forks seems to be about ten times or more the amount of blood
and chi than does the use of two Sun Forks. Since the urinary bladder
meridian flow is from head to feet, place the Sun Fork shaft, headward
above the muscle tightness and the Full Moon Fork, footward below
the muscle tightness. Hold the contacts from thirty seconds up to
five minutes.

Direct Treatment of Organs:
The direct treatment of our physical organs is a therapy that is unique
to Acutonics. I began with some experiments in which I compared acupuncture
wrist pulses and temperature with the pulsations and temperature in
those pulses' associated organs. One of the problems I've noticed
relying totally on wrists pulses is the fact that a wrist pulse gives
you a summation of how its related organ(s) are functioning, rather
than how each individual organ is doing. Also, there is a very small
contact area to test, which represents the organ. Thus, the single
lung pulse position located in the medial, distal aspect of the right
wrist, which you are palpating with the tip of your left index finger,
is providing you with information about the left lung organ, and the
right lung organ. When you feel the actual left or right lung with
the palm of your hand, you then know which specific lung organ is
warm, or cool, and you also have the entire surface of your palm to
determine that organ's pulsations. This diagnostic procedure also
works for singular organs, such as the liver, heart, and urinary bladder,
which are divided into two parts by the midline of the body. Thus,
when you feel the actual left or right half of the heart with the
palm of your hand, you then know which specific portion of the heart
is warm, or cool, and the exact pulsations which are occurring on
each half or the heart.
It occurred to me that I could help a physical organ by treating it
directly, rather than treating a point on an acupuncture meridian,
which is related to that physical organ. Acutonics was the likely
fit for this new therapy because other modalities were unable to safely
and effectively stimulate the organ. I discovered that the Acutonics
Sun Fork worked the best because its vibrations could penetrate into
the organ more deeply than could the vibrations from other tuning
forks.
Mrs. M is the first client who benefited from this new direct treatment
method. She had suffered from food allergies for about 12 years and
was seeing both a naturopath and a clinical nutritionist for more
than three years. She was taking extensive supplements including glandular
extracts. In feeling her organs, I noticed her spleen was very cold,
and lacked any pulsation at all. Surprisingly her stomach (the internal-external
related organ to the spleen) was warm and had good pulsations. I treated
the skin overlaying Mrs. M's spleen with the vibrating shaft of a
single Sun Fork for about three minutes, contacting as many places
as I could. I noticed that there was no detectable change to her spleen.
I then added a second Sun Fork, and held each contact place for almost
three minutes each. Within 24 hours, Mrs. M was able to eat foods
she couldn't have touched for the previous twelve years. She only
needed this one treatment and I am happy to report that two years
post treatment, the correction is still holding.

Veterinary Treatments:
The use of AcutonicsŪ to treat animals commenced
with my ongoing small animal research practice with Dr. Michael Lemmon,
DVM. Today Acutonics treatment for small animals is becoming very
popular with alternative veterinarians. Many small animals are very
sensitive to insertion needle techniques, and will squirm around,
bite or shriek when needles are used. By contrast, every animal I
have treated with tuning forks enjoys the experience, and many times
they are so relaxed that they will fall asleep. Most of my experience
has been with dogs and cats, but I've also used Acutonics on several
larger animals and have clearly demonstrated that AcutonicsŪ works for all kinds of critters.
Knuckling Under:
Bandit is a 12-year-old male whippet who was having problems with
both front limbs. He couldn't stand for long periods of time, and
his toes were starting to knuckle under at times while walking. (Bandit's
symptoms were very similar to a general veterinary condition called
Wobblers.) I tried chiropractic twice with no obvious improvement.
Then, I noticed that Bandit's 3-heater meridian was pulse-less and
very cool to the touch on both sides. Using the related organ/meridian
relationship between the gallbladder and the 3 heater meridians, I
treated the fundus of the gall bladder organ with the vibrating shaft
of one Sun Fork to benefit the 3 Heater meridians. I held the contact
on the fundus for about 4 minutes each time I treated the dog. After
the third session, the owner was happy to report that Bandit has substantially
stronger front legs, and that his toes weren't knuckling under any
more. I continued with Acutonics every two weeks for a few more sessions,
until the 3 heater meridians had normal warmth and pulsation. It's
now one year since treatment stopped and Bandit is still doing great.
General Weakness:
Tofu a 12-year-old female cat suffered from generalized weakness.
Her owner was particularly concerned because the cat had lost 10 lbs
in the last year and was eating poorly. I treated the animal with
a combination of Acutonics and chiropractics every two weeks for about
three months. Initially, she presented with a dark, sticky tongue
coating mainly in the spleen and stomach regions, and her spleen and
stomach organs had very weak pulses and were quite cool to the touch.
The Acutonics treatment consisted of treating the spleen organ with
the vibrating shaft of the Sun Fork for about five minutes. I contacted
all the skin that overlies the spleen. During the first few session,
the sticky tongue coating changed from dark and sticky to light and
moist. Eventually, the tongue coating appeared normal. Over the three
month period, Tofu's spleen and stomach organs had stronger pulsation
and increased warmth. The cat was also more energetic.
Llama Birth Trauma:
I made two pasture calls to treat a female baby llama with Acutonics.
Normally mother llamas will roll on the ground to facilitate the
birth of their offspring. In this case, the baby was stuck in the
birth canal, half in and half out of the mother. The little llama's
front legs had emerged while the mother continued to roll. The owners
had to hold the mother and pull the baby out in order to complete
the birth process. When I saw the baby at 8 days old, its front
limbs were abnormally splayed out for a llama of this age. The owners
were concerned because in addition to the splaying, the baby would
start to fall when making right turns.
I palpated the acupuncture meridians on the front limbs and detected
that the large intestine, small intestine, and the 3 heater meridians
bilaterally were cool and had almost no pulsations. Using the vibrating
shaft of the Sun Fork, I treated the entire course of each of these
meridians on both limbs. The treatment took almost an hour for both
sides. Even though the baby was being held by two strong people
she squirmed around so much that the fork kept slipping off its
contact points and I had to keep restarting my treatment. I saw
the baby again, two weeks later and noticed that the splaying had
been reduced by 50%. The meridians were stronger and warmer. I used
the same treatment procedure as the first visit. The second treatment
took just as long, the baby llama did not like being handled or
touched. The owners reported to me that within two weeks after the
second treatment, the little llama could hold its legs correctly,
and she didn't falter when making turns. This llama is now more
than a year old and growing into adulthood without any structural
difficulties.

Study: Musculoskeletal
Bettina is a 15yr old Welsh pony mare, approximately 13.2 hands.
She is in light to moderate work and her owner reports that she
frequently moves stiffly through her back and hips, especially after
being ridden. Her saddle fits correctly and her rider is light and
well balanced. Her teeth have been floated on a regular basis, so
I do not suspect tooth pain. The pony is well built for her breed
but, as with most Welsh ponies, she tends towards being extra fleshy
especially throughout her hindquarters and hips.
Upon palpation I found tension in her gluts, hips, hamstrings and
in her girth area (which runs over PC1). Emotionally, she was somewhat
tense and protective of her body ventral to the mid-line, and on
her legs, and head and neck cranial to the shoulder.
I started the treatment by letting Bettina hear and feel the Ohm
Forks on her muzzle and whiskers1 .
Then I worked over her energy field with the gold forks moving energy
down her body and legs. Following this, I "opened her spine" with
the New Moon 5th interval on GV 21 and Bai Hui (which is considered
to be between GV 2 and 3 at the top of the croup). I vibrated the
forks through my hands and onto her body instead of touching her
with them directly2. I used the New
Moon 5th interval over her girth area and then used the Zodiac 3rd
Interval at various points in her lower back and hindquarter area
(vibrating through my hands, or on the body depending on what she'd
allow) including BL 36, 54, along her hamstrings and gluts, and
in the soft tissue directly surrounding her hipbones. I also used
the Zodiac 3rd interval over LIV 3 and K1 and Ohm Unison over HT
9 and SI 1. I finished up with the Ohm Unison once more in her energy
moving energy from her head to her feet and through her tail.
Throughout the treatment Bettina relaxed into a very peaceful state.
When finished we walked her out to her pasture and noted that she
was swinging her hips in a much more relaxed and free way. When
turned loose in her field she cantered off (unusual for her) and
seemed to enjoy moving in an easier fashion.
With subsequent treatments Bettina became very jealous of her time
with me and also became more accepting of my working on her stomach,
shoulders, neck and head. I was able to address some shoulder stiffness
with SI 9 Zodiac 3rd and use some of the forks directly on her heavier
hindquarter muscles.
As an interesting additional note: During my 3rd and 4th treatments
I worked on Bettina in a barn aisle with stalls which allowed access
to the other horses from the outside pasture (the outside doors
were open). As I did her treatment, all of the horses from the pasture
crowded into their stalls to listen. Most interestingly, a very
arthritic and bad-tempered horse came up, pressed himself against
the door and fell asleep. In the aisle, a small dog (a genetic fear-biter,
this rescued Chihuahua who would only allow limited approach and
touch by anyone) listened deeply and afterwards, in her home, first
curled up next to me on the couch (the closest that she'd ever gotten
to me) and slept and then curled up in fetal position on the rug
and slept more deeply then her owner had ever observed.
1 I find that this works
better for horses then holding the forks up above their heads or
near their ears.
2 I have three general ways of using sound on animals. The
first is working in the energy field (for many animals this is the
most comfortable way for them, the energy is too intense otherwise),
the second is vibrating the sound through my hands and then into
their bodies (either through a finger or through my whole palm for
greater area coverage - this can work quite well over points that
are directly on or near bony landmarks such as the inside of the
hock), the third is to use the forks directly on the body (this
will work well in very heavily-muscled areas or with less sensitive
animals - although I've run into very few of these).

Study: Swollen Joints and Minor Arthritis Pain
JD is a 15-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, 17 hands. He has had a
long career, first as a racehorse, then as a dressage and show horse.
In cold, damp weather he tends to show some minor stiffness in his
low back, hips, and leg joints. He is very sensitive to sound therapy
and has been treated successfully for acute and chronic conditions
for the past year. Recently JD was put back into work after a moderate
lay-off. After several days of hard work he began showing some joint
pain in his knees, ankles, hips, and sacrum. These joints had a
low, but noticeable level of inflammation.
I began the treatment by presenting the forks for his inspection
near his muzzle. As the treatment progressed JD began to fall into
a trance of concentration, listening and feeling the results of
the therapy. Although JD is not the only horse that I've worked
on that goes into trances during therapy, of all the horses I've
worked on, his trances seem the most focused. It's my impression
that he's carefully feeling for the movements of energy in his body.
After going over his whole body (in his etheric field) with the
Ohm Forks, I opened up his spine with the New Moon 5th interval
on GV 21 and Bai Hui, I vibrated the energy of the forks through
my hands and into him - I didn't use them on him directly.
Then I spent a good deal of time working around his joints with
the Zodiac 3rd interval. I also used the Zodiac 3rd interval on
LIV3 and K1 since grounding is very good for this horse. I also
encouraged the stagnant energy to flow down his legs, out of his
joints, and to his feet. After the treatment, his joints were noticeably
less warm, his movement easier, and his attitude considerably brighter.

Report: Emotional - Tasha, The Cat Who Insisted on Sound Therapy.
Tasha is a calico female of undetermined age. She belongs to a client
of mine named Nancy who is a breeder of miniature horses and owns
several other cats and a dog. I have worked on Nancy's horses and
dog, as well as Nancy herself (she has leg and hip pain issues relating
to an old, profound break).
On my first visit to Nancy's farm I was working on several of her
horses. As I sat on a small stool and worked first one and then
a second miniature yearling, Tasha sat above me on a beam on the
stall's wall. When I was finished with the two horses I got up to
leave. Suddenly, Tasha launched herself at my retreating shoulders.
She landed gently but strongly on my back and draped herself heavily
around my neck. She refused to leave until I'd done some sound work
on her. I had noted that she was responding especially well to my
work with the Full Moon 6th interval on the young horses and that's
what I now used on her. After a few minutes, she draped herself
across one of my shoulders like a sack of flour and stayed there
as I continued to work on several other horses.
On subsequent visits to the farm, Tasha is always around, insisting
on her own treatment -no matter who I'm actually there to see. When
I work on her owner's legs she positions herself in Nancy's lap
or on her back over her SI joint in order to get her own treatments
at the same time. She remains especially receptive to the New Moon
5th and Full Moon 6th intervals of all frequencies, especially over
her lower back and hindquarters. Her purr gets louder every time
she sees me.

Report: Loss of Vitality
Milla is an aged Thoroughbred mare, 16 hands, probably around 22
years old. She was living at an equine rescue and in very poor condition
the first time I saw her. She was quite underweight, extremely lethargic,
had no appetite, and had been having diarrhea for some time. I was
told that her left hind leg had a tendency to collapse when she
moved suddenly or was startled.
Due to her level of weakness, I worked off her body in her energy
field. I concentrated on her Spleen, Stomach, Ren, Bladder, Kidney,
and Du channels as well as where I felt her heart chakra would be.
I used the Solar 7th and the mid Full Moon 6th intervals exclusively
- feeling along the meridian lines and deciding which needed which.
My intention was to stimulate her digestive functions, appetite,
and build up her strength.
I also worked over her weak hind leg intending to strengthen the
muscles and create easier movement.
As I worked over her, her mood seemed to lighten and after 30-40
minutes she certainly seemed brighter and more interested in life.
By the end of the treatment she seemed stronger but with her level
of debility, I knew that it might take several days for her body
to process the treatment.
Four days later, I received word from the owner of the rescue telling
me that I'd saved the mare's life! Two days after the treatment
her appetite had returned, her diarrhea was gone and she was taking
interest in life again. She even began chasing younger horses away
from her food; a big change for her. Milla started eating many small
meals a day, and quickly began putting weight back on. Ten days
later, she was strong and healthy enough to be adopted into her
new home where her condition continues to improve.
