  • Q. What is the relationship between the Kairos Institute of Sound Healing, LLC and the Acutonics® Sound Healing System?
  • A. The Kairos Institute of Sound Healing is a Limited Liability Company located in the mountains of Northern New Mexico, under which the Acutonics® Sound Healing Tools and Education Programs were created. Our company is women owned, and we are committed to the creation of new models in healing, sustainable and harmonic living, education, and business, that promote optimal health. We are dedicated to social responsibility, and engage in conscious and sustainable business practices. We also founded a sister company, Devachan Press, LLC, which publishes books on Harmonic Medicine and Sound Healing.

  • Q. How are Acutonics® Tuning Forks different from other tuning fork products?
  • A. The Acutonics® Tuning Forks are manufactured in the United States out of space grade aluminum, custom calibrated to our exact specifications. They are color coded, with a proprietary coating, for ease of use, and the middle and low frequency tuning forks are designed with resonator feet to maximize the length of time the fork vibrates. Our forks are based on the orbital properties of the Earth, Moon, Sun, and Planets. Because our system is based on the cycles and processes of nature and the cosmos known as the Music of the Spheres, we do not use a chromatic scale. Nature is not linear - it is inter-connective, relational, and cyclic. The Music of the Spheres cannot be captured by scientific or linear expression. The Acutonics Tuning Forks were created to support an in-depth educational program in the use and application of sound based therapy.

    Because research is an important aspect of our work the quality of our forks is of critical importance. They are extremely accurate and do not pit, or decrease in accuracy. Tuning Forks manufactured overseas often contain greater amounts of alloys, which can decrease the quality and duration of the vibration. Many of our tuning fork sets have been in use for over thirteen years. They will also hold their vibration for approximately 25 seconds.

  • Q. Don’t the planets move and shift? How do your tuning fork frequencies remain accurate?
  • A. Johannes Kepler calculated the orbital velocities of the Planets in the early 1600’s and his laws of planetary motion are still is use today. These calculated velocities which were converted to Hertz by Hans Cousto, remain accurate to this day. But it is not just the specific frequency or hertz that makes Acutonics so effective it also draws on depth psychology and the archetypal qualities that each tuning fork evokes. When two Acutonics Tuning Forks are combined we are able to fine-tune the energetic used on the body. There is a specific quality, character, and subtlety to every musical interval that is created through these unique combinations of planetary tuning forks.

  • Q. I'm a health care practitioner interested in integrating Acutonics into my clinical practice. Is this possible? What training is available?
  • A. Many health care practitioners including acupuncturists, body workers, physical therapists, chiropractors, nurses, doctors, naturopaths, and psychotherapists have trained in the Acutonics® System of Healing and are successfully integrating the work into their existing clinical practice. The Acutonics Certification program was developed to provide an in-depth training program in the use and application of tuning forks and other sound healing tools in the therapeutic environment. Classes are offered throughout the word, and from the very first class you will learn valuable techniques that can be integrated into the practice environment.   • Q. Can I receive continuing education credits for Acutonics classes?
  • A. The full Acutonics Certification Program is approved for continuing education credits through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). We are in the process of investigating the continuing education requirements for other health care disciplines, but encourage you to check with your professional association to determine whether you can receive continuing education for Acutonics classes. All students receive a transcript.

  • Q. How does Acutonics work and what does it treat?
  • A. Acutonics is a powerful, deeply transformational, non-invasive modality that incorporates sound and vibration to re-harmonize and attune the human energy field to achieve optimal health, actualization, and wholeness. It has been used effectively to support individuals with a wide variety of ailments including muscular-skeletal, neurological, psycho spiritual, emotional, psychological, gastrointestinal, gynecological, respiratory, and many other chronic and debilitating conditions.   • Q. Is Acutonics® Being used with Animals?
  • A. Yes, Acutonics is being used in the home and in the barn to work with all types of companion animals. We also offer two electives in the Acutonics Certification Program, Equine Acutonics, Balancing Horse and Rider and Acutonics for Small Companion Animals.

  • Q. How often should a person receive an Acutonics® session?
  • A. The frequency and duration of sessions varies depending on the need of the individual. In a physical, emotional, or spiritual crisis, some people may see a practitioner once per week. Once the initial concerns are addressed, people may come once a month or every other month for a tune up or preventative care that helps keep their body in harmony. The feedback from clients is that Acutonics sessions last longer, and work more quickly and deeply than many other modalities.

    Sessions are effective for both ongoing health issues as well as preventative or wellness care. Many people are drawn to the work for the clarity, relaxation, and heightened awareness they experience during and after an Acutonics session.

  • Q. Can Acutonics help treat depression?
  • A. Depression is a complex issue and we believe that you should work in concert with the appropriate members of your health care team to develop a plan that works for your individual situation. However, in our own clinical practice, we've seen that the root of depression is often a feeling of deep spiritual disconnection or an inability to understand our soul's purpose. We've also had great success providing support for both depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) using the Acutonics® Solar 7th Tuning Forks. The Sun Fork has an archetypal quality that represents the divine spark within us as well as correspondences to the heart and thymus gland. A powerful interval is created when the Sun Fork and the Low Ohm Fork are combined. This interval helps people cut through critical times such as life transitions and life changes. Remember when applying sound frequency to the body, a little goes a long way.

  • Q. I'm not a trained health care practitioner. Can I use these forks?
  • A. Acutonics Ohmworks® was designed just for you. It is an excellent approach to self-care for you and your family. This Introductory Series of tuning fork products is sold with basic instructions for applications and use in your home and between sessions with your Certified Acutonics Practitioner. Ask your practitioner about tools for self-care or contact us at info@acutonics.com. Read more about these products at Acutonics Ohmworks®, the Acutonics Ohm® Unison, Acutonics Ohm® Octave, Acutonics Ohm Multiple Octave, Solar 7th, and Mars Venus sets are all excellent tools for people interested in self-care. These tools are sold with basic instructions for use. Remember with sound and vibration a little goes a long way, so use with care.   • Q. Can the Acutonics Forks be used for clearing the energy in physical space?
  • A. Absolutely, Acutonics® is a powerful form of vibrational healing whether you're working with an individual, a family, a physical space, a growing space, or the Planet.

    You can clear, balance, ground, revitalize a room, or create a sacred space through the use of sound. Tuning Forks can be used singularly or together. When activated direct the sound vibration into areas with stagnant energy such as the corners or sides of a room. Sweep the fork across the space until you feel a more balanced energy. You can also activate and apply the tuning fork stem down on the ground. If you want the energy in the room to be more powerful, use Mars; to foster creativity, use Venus; for re-grounding and rooting, use Ohm.

  • Q. Are Acutonics Tuning Forks being used in agriculture and farming?
  • A. Programs in farming and sustainable living are an integral part of the Acutonics program. Currently students are able to study and work in our geodesic growing space and to learn about sustainable growing practices and harmonic living. In addition, to the programs offered here at Kairos, Acutonics forks are also being used in biodynamic gardening and have been used in the wine industry to enhance flavor and complexity.
