Acutonics® Without Borders
Pamela Brady, BA, MA, LAc has been integrating sound healing modalities into her acupuncture practice for the past 15 years. She has traveled with her tuning forks worldwide providing treatment for under served and impoverished populations as well as those suffering from physical and emotional trauma due to natural disasters.
Honduras As part of The Honduras Healing Recovery Project, Mela committed two weeks a year from 2000 to 2003 to treat victims of Hurricane Mitch, and trained healthcare providers in the basic use of the tuning forks so that they could continue treating the widespread effects of PTSD in the communities most devastated by the hurricane countrywide.
Cuba In 2001, Mela visited an alternative health clinic in Matanzas, Cuba. Since music is such an integral part of Cuban culture, Acutonics found a warm welcome. In partnership ith The Kairos Institute, a full set of tuning forks and the book, Acutonics: There's No Place Like Ohm, were given to the clinic for the staff to study and use.
Bali Early in 2006, Mela was invited to bring Acutonics to Bali for a month. Living in a traditional bamboo jungle house, she treated first responders of the tsunami relief effort in Aceh, Indonesia and anyone else who was interested. Bali is the retreat island for tsunami volunteers and they were in desperate need of relief from the stress, anxiety, and deprivation from weeks of working in the hot, humid, mosquito infested tent camps of the totally destroyed Aceh coast of Sumatra. Interestingly, the Balinese found Acutonics to compliment their ritualistic, musical, Hindu ceremonies.
Tibet Last fall, Mela joined the Gar Tibet Health Project, traveling with a 13-member medical team to treat Tibetans in remote, rural villages. Working out of a make-shift clinic in a monastery perched at 15,000 feet, she provided acupuncture and sound therapy to lamas, monks, nuns, and local residents. People came from far and wide, desperate for attention. From elderly grandparents to small school children, they were fascinated by the relaxing, healing power of the vibrating forks!
War Veterans Now back in Vermont, Mela has initiated a free community clinic, one night a week, treating war veterans and their families for anxiety, stress, and PTSD. Many of the vets are being introduced to The Acutonics Sound Healing System and they are saying they haven't been this calm or slept so well in years!
